I am celebrating the fact that the 77 frame and 83 motor xs650 I put together has been running consistently for 3 weeks now. I have owned it for 4 or 5 years and I have put her through the ringer. When she was together and running the first time, I put her on a truck and tried to drive from Sacramento Ca. to Boston Ma. in the middle of the winter.
My buddy was kind enough to flip the truck we were in 3 times in the middle of an ice storm in Wyoming. The 4runner we were in saved our lives, but it was a total loss. The bike was on the back of the truck and the only thing that broke was the light switch. I still don’t believe it. Anyhow, I had to leave it there (Wyoming) for a month while I made my way to the east coast by plane, and figured out a way to ship it.
I took it apart in Bean town, and there it sat while I found out that my fiance was on drugs and screwing up. I packed my crap, bought a car, put the bobber in the back of it in pieces and drove back to California and rebuilt my life and the bike simultaneously. I am taking it on a 5,000 + ride for the troops. I am a deployed combat medic for the Army.
I would like to thank all the people on the blogs, Mikesxs, and the rest of the sites that put up pics and the folks that share in this rat bike disease we all apparently have. Lemme know what you think, and thanks. IT LIVES!!!!
