This is a 79’ xs650 I chopped and hardtailed recently. I was going for an old school look that would have components that were anything but old school.

It’s got a TC bros hardtail, custom fender, drilled out mag wheels, overdrive rear sprocket, XS Charge PMA system, tapered steering head bearings, re-jetted carbs for pod filters and open headers, and numerous other upgrades.

When I bought the bike it didn’t even run. It had no spark and when I filled the stock fuel tank for the first time it pissed gas all over the place leaking from the petcocks, fuel lines, and over flowed the carb float bowls.

The stock petcocks were shot and wouldn’t work to turn off the fuel flow from the tank so I sat and watched a gallon of fuel piss out all over the bike.

The first thing I said to myself was “buying this bike was a bad decision”. Ever since then, the nickname I’ve had for the bike has been “Bad Decision”.

It was the best worst decision I’ve ever made.
