This ride started off as many do, parts from jumbles and here and there etc. My son and I started the bike a couple of years ago then it came to a stalemate as he moved house. Eventually we got back on it a few months ago and finally finished it.

The motor was rebuilt, we fitted a Electrex world ignition, a single manifold and 36 mm mikuni vm carb. The wheels were powder coated and rebuilt with stainless spokes. Front brake was from a jumble and I made an adapter to carry it. Handlebars came from a mate, posh Stevie which were a freebie and there just right.

The seat is a cheep job of the net but works well, Ryan made the brat backend and done all the fab work.A pair of old sporty shocks were stripped and painted up. Electric box was made by Ryan. Paint was done by pinstripe Pete. I did the frame in black 2k. The forks and most of the bracketry are painted with wrinkle black .we went for Avon rubber as they give good miles and were cheap.
The bike rides great although as were in lockdown I’ve only had it around the backroads……ye got to test them.

I have recently found a 1978 junker that came with a standard XS 2 that I’m going to restore as I’ve never had a standard one for years. The junker is already under way, it will be another brat style but with no jumbles on, at present it looks like the lock up is going to get some hammer. Look out for the pics in a few weeks time it’s gonna be a quick build and a daily rider.
