At 70 years old, our featured rider is a testament to the timeless allure of the Yamaha XS650. Despite owning four bikes, he proudly declares, “My favorite one is my 1974 XS650. I think it is very old school. I just love to ride it.” This sentiment is echoed in every gleaming inch of his meticulously maintained silver XS650.
Capturing Attention
The photos he shared with us capture the bike from various angles, each one highlighting the classic lines and polished chrome that make this model a standout.
In two of the photos, our rider is astride his beloved machine, embodying the spirit of freedom and adventure that the XS650 represents. “Everywhere I go with it, heads are turning for a second look,” he notes, and it’s easy to see why.
The bike’s vintage charm and his evident pride in ownership create a compelling image that resonates with anyone who appreciates classic motorcycles.
Customization and Comfort
Even after decades of riding, our community member is not done customizing his XS650. He shares his plans with us: “I keep working on it to change some of the looks. My next project is to find forward controls; it’s too hard on my old legs the way the foot pegs are located right now.” This practical approach to customization ensures that the bike remains not only a joy to ride but also a comfortable experience, adapting to the rider’s needs over time.
In addition to the forward controls, he has his sights set on new handlebars: “Then I want to change the Ape Hangers for 16 inches and wide apes.” These modifications will undoubtedly add to the bike’s unique character while enhancing the riding experience.
A Call for Tips
Our rider is also reaching out to the community for advice: “I do need a tip on where to find those forward controls, hope you can help me with that.” This collaborative spirit is what makes our community so special. By sharing knowledge and experiences, we all contribute to the collective joy of riding and maintaining these beautiful machines.
