When it comes to custom motorcycle builds, the Yamaha XS650 has long been a favorite platform for builders and enthusiasts alike. Its classic lines, reliable engine, and endless customization possibilities make it the perfect canvas for creating a truly unique ride. One of our community members recently sent in pictures of his stunning blue XS650 build, which he has aptly named “The Blue Dahlia.”
As the owner proudly states, “I named this bike The Blue Dahlia because I think it’s a killer bike.” And killer it is. The first thing that catches the eye is the striking blue paint job that covers every inch of the bike. From the frame to the wheels, everything has been meticulously powder coated in a deep, rich blue that perfectly complements the bike’s classic lines.
But the custom work doesn’t stop there. The bike features an Arlen Ness one-piece aluminum tank, which not only looks great but also helps to streamline the bike’s appearance. The tank is just one of the many “trick bits & pieces” that the owner has incorporated into the build.
Other custom touches include a hardtail rear end and a springer front fork, both of which give the bike a classic bobber look. The owner has also paid close attention to the smaller details, such as the custom-made seat and the intricate engraving on the engine covers.
Under the stunning exterior lies a completely rebuilt engine, ensuring that The Blue Dahlia runs as good as it looks. The owner’s attention to detail and dedication to creating a truly unique machine is evident in every aspect of the build.
