This is a pretty interesting bike… It is a 1980 XS650 Special that has been re-built into a retro scrambler
The bike was completely dismantled and a lot of modifications were done. Then everything got sand blasted & powder coated for a super durable finish. The engine is a very low mileage unit that has been upgraded with a Permanent Magnet Alternator and a Pamco electronic ignition system so there is no need for a battery on the bike.
The bike has a set of N.O.S. Mikuni BS38 carbs installed that have been re-jetted for additional flow. A hand made custom exhaust system has been fitted to the bike. The engine cases and covers have been hand polished.
The bike has a 1967 Ducati Scrambler chrome tank installed and custom Yamaha chrome tank badges. An N.O.S.
Scrambler seat has been fitted to the bike UFO body work has been used front & rear with a super bright head light & integrated tail light.
Aluminum bars have been installed atop the XT600 42mm front end
Out back N.O.S. Fox shocks have been installed to give additional travel to the rear end
Instrumentation has been kept simplistic by using an Acewell digital speedometer & tachometer
Aluminum bodied blinkers have been installed front & rear
A custom designed rack was installed on the rear of the bike to give additional versatility
N.O.S. AKRONT wheels front & rear have been installed with a 3.00 X 21 up front & a 450 X 18 at the rear.
The bike starts quite easily and runs like a champ with lots of torque
A very nimble bike that is good in traffic and a pleasure to take off-road if desired.
It gets great mileage and has a travel range of over 300 miles on a tankful.
Lots of new parts have been installed including:
New tapered bearings & bronze bushings
New engine gaskets & seals
New brake shoes & pads
New fuel lines & filters
New pod air filters
New drive chain
New cables
New tires
New grips
