Here’s an intriguing build from one of our members, Jim. He sent us five photos of his Yamaha XS650, capturing the bike from different angles. This project is still in progress, but it’s already showcasing some unique features and a lot of potential. Let’s dive into the story behind Jim’s steel-colored XS650.
Jim’s journey with this XS650 began a few months ago when he started collecting parts for his build. “Hi all. Just started to put together this xs650. I have been collecting bits for a few months now,” he shares. One of the standout features is the 8-inch over front forks, giving the bike a stretched and aggressive look.
The rear wheel is sourced from a Honda VT600 Shadow, adding a unique touch to the build. But what really catches the eye is the coffin stainless tank. This tank not only adds to the bike’s distinct style but also highlights Jim’s creativity in combining different elements.
Jim recently acquired the bars and seat for his build. However, he ran into a small hiccup: “Just got the bars and seat this weekend but got the wrong springs. Ordered some new 3-inch and then will fit it.” It’s all part of the process, and Jim is handling it like a pro, making sure every detail is just right.
The frame of Jim’s XS650 was custom-made by Projex Engineering in Cradley Heath, Birmingham, U.K. “He built the frame around the parts I had collected,” Jim explains, showcasing the collaborative effort that went into creating this unique bike.
Jim’s project is a testament to the patience and dedication required to build a custom bike. “Hope you like it so far. Feedback welcome,” he says, inviting the community to share their thoughts and suggestions. It’s clear that Jim is passionate about his build and is eager to see it come to fruition.
Thanks for sharing your incredible work in progress with us, Jim! Your XS650 is already looking fantastic, and we can’t wait to see the final result.
