We’re excited to feature an incredible build sent in by one of our community members. This custom Yamaha XS650, dubbed “KaRatay Chop,” is a true testament to creativity and craftsmanship.

KaRatay Chop is a stunning 1982 XS650 built by the talented folks at Detroit Brothers. This bike is a head-turner from every angle, and we’ve got three awesome shots to prove it!

The first thing you’ll notice is the unique tank design. The top of the tank proudly displays the name “KaRatay Chop,” while the side features a bold Rising Sun Flag design. This Sportster tank adds a distinctive flair to the bike, making it stand out in any crowd.

In the builder’s own words:

“Rear rim is off of a Harley so we could convert to a disc brake. Tank is off of a Sportster. Front forks have been stripped and all of the brackets have been removed.”

This blend of parts from different bikes not only showcases the builder’s ingenuity but also enhances the bike’s performance and aesthetics. The Harley rim paired with a disc brake setup ensures better stopping power—a crucial upgrade for any custom build.

The front forks have been meticulously stripped down, removing all unnecessary brackets for a clean and minimalist look. This attention to detail is evident throughout the build.

Another standout feature is the hand-tooled seat crafted by Detroit Brothers. The close-up shot of the seat highlights the intricate workmanship that went into creating this one-of-a-kind piece. As the builder mentions:

“Excile forward controls and Hand tooled seat by Detroit Brothers.”

These Exile forward controls not only improve the bike’s ergonomics but also contribute to its sleek and aggressive stance.
