Found this ’79 with under 6K miles. Didn’t run, and the owner didn’t have the patience to see it through.

With the help of the all the great guys at xs650chopper.com, i found the key was missing from the keyway on the mechanical advance side of the cam.

New points, and advance springs from MikesXS, and a key of course, and Yatzee! I went with a combo reg/rec, gutted the wiring, kick only, and started cutting the frame.

Can’t handle a hard tail, so I mocked a low seat height with short rear shocks. Custom made an electric box from a pair of old cowboy boots, smashed a seat pan from an old steel door skin, then tried my hand at some leather.

I pushed the fork tubes through the trees, to lower the front end, and went with clamp on bars…it’s really comfortable.

The chain stuff is just to make people wonder…and it LOOKS cool.
