Today, we’re taking a closer look at a particularly intriguing build that’s caught our attention – a silver beauty affectionately dubbed “The Bandit Bike” by its owner, Roger.

Starting life as a 1980 XS Special II, this machine has undergone a series of thoughtful modifications that transform it from a standard cruiser into a head-turning custom ride. The most notable change is the addition of a Harley king tank, which immediately alters the bike’s silhouette and gives it a more substantial presence on the road.

Roger didn’t stop at the tank, though. As he puts it, the bike features “quite a few after market bits & pieces.” These carefully selected components work in harmony to create a cohesive custom look that pays homage to the XS650’s classic lines while pushing it firmly into custom territory.

The silver paint job is elegantly applied, providing a clean canvas that allows the bike’s modified lines to shine. A particularly eye-catching detail is the skull adorning the area above the license plate, adding a touch of rebellion to this already nonconformist build.

From every angle, it’s clear that considerable thought and effort went into this project. The end result, as Roger modestly states, is “pretty nice.” We’d argue that’s an understatement. This XS650 stands as a testament to the platform’s enduring appeal and the creativity of the custom motorcycle community.
