Here is a stunning example from the far north, crafted by Mika Heinola. His XS650 chopper, affectionately named “Kopteri.”

At first glance, the Kopteri exudes a raw and rebellious charm. Mika initially envisioned the bike as a bobber, but as he candidly shares, “the thoughts changed a little bit during the trip.”
This evolution is evident in the bike’s striking design, which seamlessly blends classic chopper aesthetics with a touch of modern flair.
The frame, while heavily modified, retains its original XS650 roots. This careful balance of old and new is a hallmark of Mika’s approach. The standout feature of the Kopteri is undoubtedly the girder-type fork, crafted by Calles Chopperdelar. Mika notes that this component “gives the machine a look which kicks ass.” Indeed, the aggressive stance and unique fork design make this chopper a head-turner.

Underneath its rugged exterior, the Kopteri is a finely tuned machine. The engine boasts Mikuni roundslide VM34 carbs, a ported head, and pointless ignition, ensuring it’s not just a showpiece but a “real runner.”
However, Mika adds with a touch of humor that it “mostly likes to take it easy,” hinting at the bike’s dual nature as both a performer and a cruiser.
