Brent – The build started our talking to a co-worker about starting the search for bike to bob/chop. He had mentioned he’s dad use to run a motorcycle repair shop back in the 70’s/80’s and said there were still a few bikes left sitting in the garage. Went to go take a look and found the 71 sitting in the corner rough but complete. Made a deal for the bike and it was torn apart in my garage the next day.
Got the bike about a year ago for choppin a guys bike, payment was the stock bike.Finished her 3 days ago. A lot of fab time: cut, bungwelded and lowered seat pan frame 1.5″, shaved the pokeys, whipwheeled the paint off everything, bent and brazed the rear sissy to accomidate the tilting tail liggt, did the same for the plate holder/light, suicide clutch made with tractor handle and stock foot shift lever, linkages made outta yokes and heims, rear break stay(brazed a yoke on that too), front harley fatboy 19″ solid rims (front and back) machined out with standoffs for rear sprocket, big nasty pipes. fun lil scoot.
Gary – Chopped it up. Slapped a Monstercraftsman “brat” kit on. Made some stuff. Painted some stuff. Left some stuff to rust. Ride the hell out of it.
Warren Wall – This is my 79 xs650. She was a farm bike in a previous life. When I got her the engine, and most of the bike, was coated in hayseed and what I assume was cow shit from the smell. But with some fresh oil and a points adjustment she fired up. I stripped her down and chopped the frame. Hardtail is TC Bros. Front end rebuilt and lowered 2″ with Hughs Hand Built lowering spacers.
Also HHB Pma kit, and slim line front master cylinder.Rebuilt calipers front & rear, with stainless braided brake lines. Rear master cylinder from Mikes XS. Engine top end rebuilt with new rings and valve guides. Electronics tank, sissy bar, battery box, rear master cylinder mount, brake pivot, head light mount, turn signal mounts, frame gussets, seat pivot, seat pan, leather work, and paint by me. The rear fender is a trailer fender that I narrowed 1″ and radius’d to fit the tire. New cables. Simplified wiring. Shinko 270 rear tire. Chen Shin front tire. I think that’s about it. Hope you enjoy.
Stoked – This was a junked up rat that started off in the right direction but lost steam and was neglected after previous owner lost interest after his chick. Typical haha. Was a heads up trade for my ratted out 54 (4 door buick). Stripped it down rewired whole thing! New charging system Hughes of course and Boyer ignition. Continue Reading →
