Hacked and Wacked Rat

I purchased a seat, handle bars, hardtail, tail light, pipes and pods, other wise I re used original parts, or hacked stuff laying around the shop. I mounted the Battery, switches and electronics in an old 7.62mm ammo can. I cut out all the wiring except for the ignition/charging system, and headlight/taillight.

Mounted an old sportser peanut tank. Got a fender off a buddy’s trailer, and made struts out of my old coondog’s tie out chain. I cut off the passenger pegs and used them in place of the originals. I kept the stock headlight, speedo, and handle bar controls, minus the turns signal and horn control.

It is dirty, leaks oil, is missing 4th gear, and some of the welds look like bird shit, but I wanted something different and I think I am going to ride it just the way it is.

Better hope the po-po take it easy on the no-horn thing!

    Looking good, I’m jealous!

  4. fanoboss says:

I dig it. You did an awesome job. 1 critique, the bars look a little out of proportion, you could trim off 2″ inches off of both sides and make it a stellar ride. ride on !!

Rough is good, and if the boat floats, sail it.

fanoboss, that might be the highlight of my night, wish I thought of that myself. The handle bars feel great but look odd, I think I will get to cutting!

tadd442 thats enough out of you………..

  7. johnlaw says:

and thanks for the pipes and fender….couldn’t have done it with out ya!

  8. fanoboss says:

@ johnlaw, thank-you sir. It’ll be a more sporty feel also.

  10. Kalill says:

Hi Ted, I am using the same spring seat that you have, mine dosent move much, their are very hard when I drive, yours are soft when drive? Can you show me how you install them? Thanks… Great bike…

  11. sean from boston says:

i like that you built it yourself it looks good, but the bars are a bit big and the welds looking like poop thing would scare be but as long as there strong ride on with the rubber down bro

  12. Johnlaw says:

I cut up the frame and tacked the hardtail in place, then I had a buddy who welds for a living do all the important ones on the frame. Did everything else myself with the old Hobart 140, it does a decent job but I wouldn’t trust it for the frame welds.

good I’m glad to hear there good and strong then hell enjoy the freedom of it!
