81mm Pistons Now Making It A 763cc.

Motor has 4300 miles on it since the total build of the bike. I did a base gasket up everything new. It is sleeved with 81mm pistons now making it a 763cc. New mikuni 36mm or 38mm carbs electronic ignition new rectifier/regulator new tires sprockets chain so on and so on. All this mentioned has 4300 trouble free miles on them after about 150 miles of fine tuning. Continue Reading →

Yamaha XS 650 History

The xs650 was designated the XS-1 when the Yamaha XS 650 was launched in 1968 it had one of the most advanced engines in its class of large parallel twin motorcycles. The engine and gearbox are unit construction with the crankcase split horizontally for ease of assembly. The XS 650s valves are operated by a single overhead camshaft (SOHC) whereas almost all contemporaries in its class have pushrod valve gear.

My 1979 Yamaha XS 650. Look at that seat!!

My second Yamaha xs650. I picked it up on on the Black Market AKA eBay for $250. Built circa 1979. The beautiful tropical artwork sold me.. This guy had it listed on eBay for $100 bucks and nobody was biding on it. The description of the bike said that it had electrical problems. Called the guy up and asked if he knew what was wrong with it. He said he wasn’t sure but thought it was the stator. I put in my bid and won the auction that day. The bike was down in Indiana and I’m up in MI. When I called the guy up and asked for directions, he seemed pretty pissed off that the bike went for such a low price..
